People have been looking for ways to mask odors and create pleasant room scents for centuries. Only since the 1950's have we been doing so with toxic chemicals. Wait! I know what you're thinking. This is another one of those all-natural gurus trying to convince you that everything is going to kill you. It's not.
Do Air Fresheners Contain Toxins?
The truth is plain to see. We breathe everything that's in the air. When we spray aerosol air freshener, we are spraying acetone, butane, neurotoxins, carcinogens and other VOCs (volatile organic compounds) into the air. You may understand this and think you're doing your family a favor by using plug-in air fresheners. Plug-ins are just as bad as aerosol sprays and emit the same toxins. Even many scented candles contain them.
These toxins and VOCs have been linked to headaches, migraines, asthma, earaches, depression, infertility and more. Keep your air as clean and pure as possible. Skip chemical-loaded air fresheners.
A Safe Alternative to Air Freshener
One of the best ways to deodorize and scent a room is by diffusing essential oils. They are completely natural, 100% safe and smell far better than artificially scented products. They don't trigger headaches or allergic reactions the way typical room fragrances do either.
In addition to smelling amazing, many essential oils are beneficial to your health! All you need is a diffuser, a few oils and water.
My favorite essential oil brand is Young Living. I love it so much that I became a supplier. We have blends that take the guesswork out of diffusing. The Peace & Calming blend is very relaxing when diffused. It only takes a few drops. A small bottle can last a long time. Our Stress Away essential oil blend is another great option. There are countless refreshing options to choose from. Let's chat to find out which oils and oil blends would best meet your needs and preferences.
